ADDITIONAL COCKAPOO INFO

Cockapoo - Mix of a 100% purebred Cocker Spaniel with a 100% purebred Toy / Miniature Poodle.

Cockapoos are popular because of their incredibly loving temperaments, low shedding coats, hypoallergenic features, and health benefits. Cockapoo puppies are wonderful with children, they seldom meet a stranger and love being with people. They are some of the most calm of all doodle varieties. They seldom bark, and they love to cuddle.

The Cockapoo is considered by many to be the ideal housepet. They are sweet, gentle, playful, willing to please, affectionate, and quiet. They equally enjoy sharing time on the couch or on a walk, and they traditionally neither dig nor bark excessively. Cockapoos are amiable toward other dogs, pets, and strangers while the spaniel heritage kicks in when outdoors, and they love to explore, sniff, and chase.

  4. Social and comfortable with strangers, children, and dogs of other breeds

  5. Adaptable to both active lifestyles and apartment living

  6. Small breed (one of the smaller of the Doodle Breeds)

COCKAPOO PERSONALITY

Cocker Spaniels are known for being loving, gentle, and loyal. They are very social and are well-known to be family dogs. In many ways, Cocker Spaniels fit the bill as an ideal house pet. They are sweet, gentle, playful, willing to please, affectionate, and quiet. They equally enjoy sharing time on the couch or a walk. They neither dig nor bark excessively. They are amiable toward other dogs, pets, and strangers. Outdoors, his spaniel heritage kicks in, and he loves exploring, sniffing, and chasing.

Miniature Poodles are more energetic and outgoing. They are also loving and make great watchdogs. Miniature Poodles are ranked one of the healthiest breeds in the world, living many times over 16 years of age, and they are also ranked as the second most intelligent dog breed in the world.

With this combination, Cockapoos have incredible personalities. They are loving, trusting, intelligent, and dependent. They want to be with you and are not a breed known for aggression. They are extremely good with children and are very patient. They seldom bark, and they love to cuddle.

COCKAPOO MAINTENANCE

Maintenance for a Cockapoo will depend on the dog's exact coat type. The Cocker Spaniel tends to shed more than Poodles, so a Cockapoo will be either low to non-shedding depending on whether it inherited its coat from the Spaniel or the Poodle side. For the most part, the Cockapoo will require weekly brushing to ensure the coat remains free from knots and snags. Their coats do tend to tangle rather easily. A Cockapoo with a Poodle coat may need to be brushed on a more frequent basis. In addition, the toenails of the Cockapoo will need to be filed or clipped on a regular basis. Several times per year, the coat of the Cockapoo will need to be trimmed.

COCKAPOO COLORS

Brown’s Babies Cockapoo colors vary from litter to litter, with our most common colors being Red, Red-White, Blenheim, and Black & Tan.

We breed F1 Cockapoo puppies. Below, you will find more information on the specifics of each type of Cockapoo.

  • F1 Cockapoo: First Generation (F1) Cockapoos result from crossing a purebred Cocker Spaniel with a purebred mini Poodle or toy Poodle. These F1 Cockapoos are 50% Cocker and 50% poodle.

  • F1b Cockapoo: First Generation Backcross (F1b) Cockapoos take a First Generation (F1) Cockapoo (mentioned above) and cross it back to a mini Poodle or Toy Poodle. We occasionally have F1b litters. These litters are primarily for those with severe allergies who want to ensure their Cockapoo puppy has a non-shedding poodle coat. F1b Cockapoos are 25% Cocker Spaniel and 75% Poodle.

  • Multigenerational Cockapoo: Multigenerational Cockapoos (multigens for short) are Cockapoo puppies in which both the mother and the father are Cockapoos. We breed F1 Cockapoos to each other (non-related, of course) and get Multigen Cockapoo puppies, sometimes referred to as F2, F1BB, or F2BB Cockapoos.
